Terms of Service

Last updated: August 12, 2026

1. The service

qTrace is a provenance-capture extension for QuPath and an accompanying web platform (the "Service") operated by Romain Tourte. qTrace Core is free and open-source (GPL v3). qTrace Compliance adds verified-identity certification and is offered on a paid subscription basis.

2. Your account and content

You retain ownership of the content of any .qtrace file you generate or upload, including the analysis recipe (steps, parameters, classifier structure) it contains. qTrace does not claim ownership of your analysis work. Uploading a file to the Service grants qTrace a limited license to store, process, and display that file back to you and to the parties you explicitly share it with, for the purpose of operating the Service (hosting, the validation registry, replay, and export).

3. Use of data to train qTrace's models

Accepting these Terms does not by itself grant qTrace any right to use your data for model training. That right is governed separately by the AI-training consent presented at sign-up and adjustable at any time from your account settings. In summary: the free plan includes this consent as part of the free offering; a paid qTrace Compliance subscription lets you opt out. When granted, the consent covers only anonymized metadata — analysis steps, parameters, and classifier structure — and never images, patient data, or information that could identify you or a patient. Withdrawing consent stops future use; it does not affect models already trained beforehand.

4. Verified identity and validation stamps

qTrace Compliance identity verification is performed by a third-party provider (Stripe Identity). A validation stamp issued through the Service reflects the identity and credentials on file with qTrace at the time it was issued; qTrace is not a party to, and does not warrant, the underlying analysis it records.

5. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the portal; continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
